Welcome to Year 6

Our teachers are Mr Haque in Chestnut class and Mrs Wight in Sycamore class.
We are very lucky to have several Teaching Assistants who support the children with their learning.

Year 6 Teacher's Message

We are Mr Haque and Mrs Wight, and we’re delighted to introduce ourselves as the Year 6 teachers at Greenbank Primary. Between us, we have 25 years of teaching experience at Greenbank and have worked together in Year 6 for the past 8 years!

Mr Haque enjoys playing football and badminton and loves going on holiday whenever he gets the chance, while Mrs Wight’s hobbies include walking, taking picturesque walks and spending quality time with her family. We both believe that reading is hugely important and are incredibly passionate about helping every child succeed, not only in the classroom but beyond it too.

Supporting us in Year 6 are our fantastic teaching assistants, Mrs Helliwell and Mrs Parveen. They play a vital role in the classroom, working closely with pupils to provide encouragement, guidance and extra support where needed. Their strong relationships with the children and commitment to helping them succeed make them an invaluable part of the Year 6 team at Greenbank Primary.

In Year 6, our main aim is to nurture happy, confident and well-rounded children who feel proud of their achievements. By working together, we will ensure that every child’s final year of primary school is not only successful but also memorable, positive and full of opportunities to grow. All aboard the Year 6 train, it is going to be a fantastic year!

  • Visit the library and read some books by our class authors; J.K Rowling, Maz Evans and Tony Bradman.
  • Visit https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/shows/operation-ouch and research the human circulatory system.
  • Can you take a family trip to Rochdale Town Hall? From which period of British History was the Town Hall built? Can you find out any interesting facts?
  • Have a chat about online safety. Does your child know how to stay safe online?
