SEND Statement
Welcome to the SEND page at Greenbank Primary School.
We understand that every child learns differently, and choosing or supporting the right provision for your child is very important. We hope this page helps you feel informed, supported, and confident about the way we work with children who have additional needs.
My name is Lindsay Williams, and I am the SENDCo at Greenbank Primary School.
At Greenbank, we believe that every child is unique and has their own strengths, talents, and needs. We are proud to be an inclusive school where all children are supported to feel safe, valued, and able to achieve their best.
All staff at Greenbank have a shared responsibility for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Staff receive regular training and guidance so that they can identify children who may need extra support and respond in a timely and appropriate way. We aim to identify any concerns as early as possible, particularly if a child is finding learning more challenging, so that support and interventions can be put in place quickly.
We understand how important it is for parents and carers to feel informed and involved. We work closely with families and ensure that you are kept up to date with your child’s progress, learning, and any support they are receiving throughout the year. We encourage open communication and value your knowledge of your child.
Greenbank Primary School works closely with the Local Authority, health professionals, and a range of external agencies to make sure children receive the right support at the right time. We always aim to find the most effective ways to meet each child’s individual needs.
The documents below provide further information about SEND at Greenbank Primary School and explain how school and home can work together to support your child.. If you have any concerns or would like to discuss SEND provision at our school, please do not hesitate to get in touch, we are always happy to help.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)
If we have any concerns about your child’s learning, development, or progress, we will always speak to you first. Equally, if you have concerns at home, we encourage you to contact your child’s class teacher or the SEND team so we can work together to support your child.
Your child’s class teacher is usually the best first point of contact. You can also contact me, Lindsay Williams, to discuss any concerns about SEND support. We are always happy to meet with parents and carers to talk things through.
Support is tailored to each child’s individual needs. This may include classroom strategies, small group or individual interventions, use of visual supports, or additional adult support. We regularly review how well support is working and make changes where needed.
We believe that communication with parents is vital. You will be kept informed through meetings, review discussions, parents’ evenings, and regular updates from class teachers or the SEND team. We value your views and encourage you to share your child’s successes and challenges with us.
No. Many children with SEND are supported in school without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). An EHCP is considered when a child needs a higher level of support over a longer period of time, and this decision is made in partnership with parents, school, and the Local Authority.
We work closely with a range of professionals, which may include speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and health professionals. We will always discuss this with you before making any referrals.
Children’s wellbeing is very important to us. We aim to create a nurturing and supportive environment where children feel safe, understood, and valued. Emotional and social needs are considered alongside academic progress.

Changes in How Children and Young People are Reviewed and Assessed for Autism and ADHD in Greater Manchester
NHS Greater Manchester (GM) is making changes to the way children and young people aged 0 to 18 are reviewed and assessed for suspected autism and ADHD. This is to make sure support is offered earlier based on a child or young person’s individual need, and that those with highest need can be seen sooner.
