Welcome to our Internal Inclusive Pathway
Our Internal Inclusive Pathway consists of two rooms; The Acorn Room and The Woods.
Mrs Williams, our school SENDCo oversees the Internal Inclusive Pathway and leads in The Woods, whilst Mrs Blyth leads The Acorn Room.
We are also very lucky to have several Teaching Assistants who support the children with their learning.

Our Internal Inclusion Pathway
At Greenbank, we are proud to provide an inclusive learning environment where every child is supported to thrive. Our Internal Inclusion Pathway offers a graduated approach to support children whose learning, communication, sensory or developmental needs mean they require something different from a traditional classroom experience. Provision is based on a child's individual strengths and needs rather than their age, year group or diagnosis, and is reviewed regularly to ensure the right support is in place.
Our pathway includes the Acorn Room, Woods Room and mainstream classroom. Children move between provisions according to their developmental readiness, confidence and progress, with flexibility to access different environments as needed. Throughout every stage, pupils remain valued members of their class and school community, with a strong focus on belonging, communication, emotional wellbeing and celebrating individual achievements. We recognise and value every step of progress, helping children build the skills they need to become confident, independent learners.
"Children move between our provisions according to their individual strengths, needs and developmental readiness. There are no fixed timescales, and every pathway is unique."
Acorn Room
The Acorn Room is our specialist provision for children who are at the earliest stages of development and require additional support with communication, sensory regulation and engagement in learning. We provide a nurturing, communication-rich environment where children learn through hands-on experiences, play and meaningful interactions. Our carefully planned provision helps children build the foundations for future learning by developing attention, communication, emotional regulation and social connection.
Children in Acorn remain an important part of their mainstream class and school community whilst benefiting from personalised support and specialist approaches. We work closely with families to celebrate each child's unique strengths and achievements, recognising that even the smallest steps can represent significant progress. Our aim is to help every child grow in confidence, develop independence and become ready for the next stage of their learning journey
Woods Room
The Woods Room supports children who are beginning to develop greater independence, communication and engagement with learning but still benefit from specialist support and carefully adapted teaching. Learning is practical, engaging and curiosity-led, encouraging children to explore, investigate and make sense of the world around them through meaningful experiences.
Children continue to access a broad curriculum whilst receiving the additional support they need to succeed. Alongside developing early literacy and mathematical understanding, we place a strong emphasis on communication, emotional regulation, confidence and learning behaviours.
As with all of our provisions, children remain fully included within their class and school community. Our goal is to help pupils become increasingly independent learners, ready to access more sustained learning within the mainstream classroom and beyond.
